How to Create Synonyms in Oracle using TOAD for Oracle

A synonym is a database object that provides a better name to refer to objects. You can use synonyms to shorten lengthy names or to ease the reference to an object owned by another user. You can create synonyms for a table, view, sequence, procedure and other objects.
In this post I will show you how to create Synonyms in Oracle Database using TOAD for Oracle.

Connect to Oracle Database using TOAD. Click on Database menu and open Schema Browser

On the Schema Browser open Synonyms Tab and click on New button to create synonym

Create Synonym window will open, select the object type (Here I am creating synonym by using Table object). Find your required Object and move it from Available Objects. Give the synonym name (Here I am using EM as synonym name). If you want to make synonym, private uncheck the Make Public check box. Click OK to create Synonym.

Now your newly created EM synonym and its structure is showing under the Synonym Tab in Schema Browser.
